Retired NASA scientist takes exploration to the road
At 80 years old, retired NASA scientist Alfred Mascy hasn't slowed down. Though he's no longer helping guide astronauts through the farthest reaches of the galaxy, there's still plenty to keep him busy. According to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat, Mascy has taken his knack for exploration to two wheels and has spent the last five years cycling around the world.
"When I was just a little kid, I had this desire to travel around the world by bicycle," Mascy told the news source. "I get so much enjoyment from meeting people and talking to them about their culture and customs. That's one of the beautiful things about touring."
He has visited numerous countries throughout the world, including Norway, Sri Lanka and Fiji. Bike touring has always been a passion of Mascy's and he's finally getting the chance to indulge. Regardless of age, it seems that a love for the sport can help propel people around the world. Even at his age, Mascy continues to ride through some of the planet's most fascinating and far-flung destinations.
