Memorial bike tour in the works in Lehigh Valley region
A bicycle tour is currently being planned to commemorate a cycling enthusiast named Patrick Ytsma. According to LehighValleyLive.com, this is the second event of its kind - Ytsma was a cyclist who was struck and killed by a car in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania back in December. Since then, organizers have put together events with the hope of bringing attention to the issue of cyclist safety.
According to the official website, the Pat Ytsma Ride Safe Bike Tour features two routes - riders may choose between 20- and 40-mile treks, depending on their individual experience level. All proceeds will go toward college funds for Ytsma's two children.
There will be rest stops along the way for those who need them and cyclists are encouraged to ride at their own pace. Community events like these are great for those with little bike touring experience who would like to spend more time on their cycles. It's for a good cause and may encourage others to throw themselves into riding when all is said and done.
