Guadalupe River Park Conservancy to hold 20-mile bike ride
The Guadalupe River Park Conservancy plans on hosting a 20-mile bike ride from San Jose to Alviso, California, later in February. According to Mercury News, the tour is one of the most popular events held by the organization - the path is relatively easy to navigate and mostly flat terrain, which means bike touring enthusiasts of all experience levels should have no problem making it from beginning to end.
The tour is hosted by naturalist Greg Kerekes, who leads cyclists and stops to provide commentary and observations every now and then. It also includes a visit to the Ulistac Natural Area - a preserve of eucalyptus trees that offers unique wildlife to the area.
It should take about four hours for the entire tour, including a 45-minute lunch break about halfway through. This is an excellent opportunity for those new to bicycle touring to give it a shot and see how a long-form ride feels. Twenty miles is a great starting distance, so the tour is sure to draw a lot of interest.
