Cycle Oregon announces stop in Ashland
Cycle Oregon is a popular annual event that brings thousands of bike touring enthusiasts to the state for a week-long excursion. According to the tour's official website, cyclists can expect to cover nearly 500 miles. Cycle Oregon has been doing these tours for 25 years and shows no signs of slowing down.
Ashland Daily Tidings reports that the tour's route has changed a bit this year and that many riders will be stopping in the city for a two-day layover. It's an exciting prospect for Ashland, as cyclists and their supporters can provide a substantial boost to the local economy.
"We look forward to welcoming Cycle Oregon and the cyclists," Katharine Flanagan, Ashland Chamber of Commerce Visitor and Convention Bureau and Marketing Director, told the news source. "For some, it may be their first time to Ashland."
In all, riders can expect to traverse nearly 40,000 vertical feet, should they cover the entire route - the most serious cyclists can ascend Mount Ashland, though some may decide to stop once they reach the city itself.
